Gothenburg’s Anniversary Festival
Gothenburg has turned 400 and the city wants to celebrate this by making Gothenburg an even better destination to visit, live and be in.
When Gothenburg’s 400th birthday fell, in the middle of the pandemic in 2021, it was celebrated with a live official ceremony. In 2023 it’s finally time to celebrate together!
On 2–5 June, a four-day festival was held in Frihamnen to celebrate the 400th anniversary. The visitors enjoyed music, dance, good food, guided tours and different activities.
Even Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia attended the celebration.
